2020 Contest Details:

Your Chance to Make Headlines!

Our generous benefactress, Madge Witherspoon, has graciously sponsored an end-of-year competition to showcase the most illustrious work produced by this year’s reporters-in training. It’s time to polish off your favorite Byline assignments and prepare for publication!

Wouldn’t You Like a Salary Increase?

The strongest entry will receive a $50 cash prize.

Three runner-up entries will receive a $25 cash prize.

Each student may submit up to THREE long pieces (300–800 words) and up to THREE short pieces (under 300 words). Entries over 800 words will not be accepted.

Each piece will be uploaded separately to the submission form. Students may submit anywhere from one to six pieces, as long as no more than three pieces fall in either the “long” or “short” categories.

Submission deadline is June 6, 2020
at 11:59 p.m. Central time.

Awards webinar is July 21, 2020
at 10:00 a.m. Central time.
