Award-winning author Cathy McCrumb \"\"graduated from Biola University with a degree in English Literature and a love for stories. For several years, she volunteered as an editor for Havok Publishing. Cathy now works as an editor for Obsidian Press and teaches at a local co-op.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cathy\u2019s early publishing credits were in flash fiction, and \u201cInversion\u201d won the Realm Award for Short Fiction in 2024. Her science fiction trilogy, Children of the Consortium, is published by Enclave Publishing. The first two novels,\u00a0Recorder<\/em>and\u00a0Aberration<\/em>\u00a0were finalists in the Realm Awards, the Christy Awards, and the Carol Awards. The conclusion of the trilogy,\u00a0Guardian<\/em>, won the Realm Award for Science Fiction and the 2025 Realm Award for Book of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

She and her husband, whom she met while writing letters to soldiers, have five children. They currently live in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Long hikes (followed by long naps), gluten-free brownies, raspberries, and crocheting while watching movies with friends and family are some of her favorite things.<\/span><\/p>\n

His novels Steal Fire From the Gods<\/em> (2023) and Echo Nova<\/em> (2025) are published by Enclave Publishing, and beginning in 2026, Enclave will launch his epic Worlds Collide<\/em> trilogy\u2014a mythic space opera about faith, courage, and survival in a galaxy at war.<\/span>

\nClint has been writing stories since middle school, when he spent most of his English-class time creating comic books (a habit his teacher encouraged by buying every issue). He also hosts The Experience: Conversations with Creatives<\/em>, where he interviews authors and artists about craft, storytelling, and the creative life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Megan earned her B.A. in English and a graduate certificate in editing from UC Berkley. She is a proofreader for Enclave Publishing, line editor for Sunrise Publishing, copyeditor for Author Conservatory, and she has completed several developmental edits for a Penguin Random House imprint. She also has her own business, MG Literary Services<\/a>, where she offers the vital support every author needs: a good editor. Her passion is cheering on other writers and helping them unlock their story\u2019s potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

John is a life-long writer. He started with badly drawn comic books in the fifth grade. When he realized that he was a lousy artist, he moved on to badly-written novels in middle school. He\u2019s tried his hand at screenplays, stage plays, fanfic, teen mysteries, and religious fiction. But his first love has always been speculative fiction<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

His debut novel, Failstate<\/em>, was published by Marcher Lord Press, and was a finalist for the Christy Awards. He has gone on to publish five more novels, two of which (Numb<\/em> and Failstate: Legends<\/em>) were Christy finalists as well. His latest novel, Drawn in Ash<\/em>, came to life at the 2017 OYAN Summer Workshop.<\/span><\/p>\n

John looks forward to telling even more strange tales that point people back to God and His incredible grace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daniel Schwabauer – “Mr. S.”<\/h1>\n

“Mr. S.” is the creator of The One Year Adventure Novel, Cover Story,<\/em>\u00a0Byline<\/em>, and\u00a0Other Worlds<\/em>\u00a0creative writing curricula and the author of Operation Grendel<\/em> (2020), Maxine Justice: Galactic Attorney<\/em> (2022), and The God of Story<\/em> (released in February 2025). His most recent book, Maxine Justice: Public Offender<\/em>, released in November 2025. He is also the author of a series for young readers: Runt the Brave,<\/em> Runt the Hunted<\/em>, and The Curse of the Seer<\/em>.\u00a0Mr. Schwabauer is a compelling speaker and loves to share his passion for Story.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daniel has taught in many venues including various writers’ conferences, homeschool conferences, classrooms, and co-ops.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was once asked if he would like to be the next C.S. Lewis. He replied, “I’d rather train a thousand C.S. Lewises.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He has a Masters in creative writing from the University of Kansas and a Doctorate in Theology in semiotics from Kairos University.<\/span>

Family Participation<\/h3>\n

There will be seating in the Tollefson conference room (located in the Cunningham Center) for parents and siblings. We request that non-students sit in the back.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents and siblings are not permitted to sit in on student critique groups or mentor appointments<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attending parents\/siblings may stay on-site in the dorms and eat meals with us in the cafeteria (see On-Campus Lodging & Meals<\/a>).\u00a0<\/span>Alternatively, there are several hotels near campus, and you may bring a sack lunch (can’t be eaten in the cafeteria) or grab something at a local restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n
