An excellent premise and compelling characters make its dialogue, action, and keen eye for detail stand out. All the judges enjoyed the strong and satisfying opening and resolution.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

There are thousands of things wrong with the world, and Technopathic runaway Shal is one of them.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s running from the ashes of the city he destroyed. Running from a past that keeps on chasing him. But while running from a corporation of superheroes who want him dead, he gets stranded in the small, ordinary town of Hollow. And to make his stay worse, he\u2019s trapped between an agent determined to make him suffer, a robotics genius who will do anything to find her cousin, a doctor who claims to be making a cure for his powers, and an old friend who\u2019s decided to stop running and fight back.<\/p>\n

As Shal gets dragged into their conflicting plans, he must figure out which side he\u2019s on\u2014if he\u2019s on any side\u2014before they tear the world and him apart.<\/p>\n

And this time, he can\u2019t run away.<\/p>\n

Technopathic runaway Shal is the perfect lens for a story filled with interesting characters and subtle humor. Monastra has a confident writing style that invites you to sit back and enjoy the superheroic drama. And the cliffhanger chapter endings are wonderful!<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

When during World War II, Otto Solomon created a compound to preserve his life after death, he vowed to take his revenge on the world for the cruelties it dealt him in life.<\/p>\n

In the year 1985, Otto chooses a carrier for his death-defying compound, a hapless ghost hunter by the name of Leif Plover.<\/p>\n

Leif, now tasked with finding a way to destroy the compound before Otto returns must make a choice to end it all: will he sacrifice himself to protect everyone he loves?<\/p>\n

A fun premise and fascinating world-building added to my natural delight (and dismay) at revisiting the year 1986, which I remember all too well. The premise is charming and the character relationships are heartfelt and rewarding. This is another story that executes chapter endings well.

But even as one of the mysterious, magic-wielding elite of the North, things aren\u2019t right. Her very great grandfather Samuel is less dead than expected. Saul, the only fatherly figure in her life, is not what he seemed at first. And, with the return of the ravens which the Fjendor thought they had banished beyond the mountains, she is plunged into an adventure through many Worlds, with many lies and betrayals.<\/p>\n

Unable to escape with her life, she must at least escape with her soul\u2026 but even that has been taken from her.<\/p>\n

With her brother desperately sick and no money for medicine, Briar Fairchild readily accepts a talking wolf\u2019s mysterious request for her to sew a funerary shroud over 101 days in return for a large sum of money. Taken to live in a sentient House where monsters roam the halls at night,
\nshe soon begins to realise that the wolf has secrets of his own.<\/p>\n

Struggling to untangle the web of lies they\u2019ve woven around each other, the two must complete the challenge and end the Ice Queen\u2019s winter. But nothing and no one are as they first appear, and perhaps the coldest and most crooked monsters are the ones they call friends.<\/p>\n

Strong prose and vivid details combine with consistently great pacing to make this novel a very fun read. Edwards has a strong instinct for leading readers to the hard questions. Well done!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

But when he’s told his father is in jail as a serial murderer, and he’s now the legal guardian of his two younger siblings, ‘normal’ goes down the drain.<\/p>\n

Sherlock Holmes knows his father’s innocent and will do anything to prove it, even if it means destroying his own family.<\/p>\n

Ashlyn Holmes just wants to keep her brothers alive, but they’re all being hunted. Their father’s past is catching up with them, and she doesn’t know if she can stop it.<\/p>\n

Together, they can do anything.<\/p>\n

Apart? They fall apart.<\/p>\n
